Answer: no difference. just different terms. actually, computer manufacturers usually refer to them as "notebooks" but us users call them "laptops". (Probably because it's quicker than writing or saying "notebook computer". Otherwise just saying "notebook" might be mistaken for a "spiral notebook" or something".)
